ARTIST STATEMENT

Jamie’s work explores the inner self, civilization and our relationship with the natural world as well as the outer world and existence itself. He draws from traditional genres of painting together with the surrealism of science fiction and the fantasia of nature. Jamie often derives his ideas from societal issues to create mysterious compositions that seek to question our perception of and relationship to nature, the universe and our place in it. Jamie likes to mix and juxtapose things together almost like a collage to create his visual narrative/story for his pieces creating his unique look and feel.

For the last six years or so Jamie’s focus has been on the deveolopment of Social media/Big tech, Corporatism and concepts of ideologies ‘Political and epistemic’. His work investigates ideas of culture and beliefs within the western world and the influences that shape the overall zeitgeist of our human cult.

Jamie Linley b.1982 England

Studied Graphic Design/Advertising HND at the Leeds Collage of Art & Design 1999-2002 and Illustration/Printmaking BA (Hons) at the Bradford Art school 2002-2005. Professional artist since 2010, primary focus on Oil paint on canvas/Panel and works on paper. Now based in Denmark Jamie mainly exhibits in the thriving Scandanavian gallery scene.
